The Visitor

The Visitor
 by 1/2K

One Friday,
In the classroom of 1/2K,
someone visited.
She came to us in her own little cage.
It had an upstairs and a downstairs and her very own bedroom.

Her little ears were pale pink and see-through.
Her eyes were the colour of a bird in the night.
She had white-as-an-arctic-wolf fur,
A black ninja hood,
And a black line across her back like a scar.
Her scaly tail, looked like metal, long and thin, like a tiny crocodile’s tail.
We learnt her cousins are bunnies, guinea pigs and mice but... she was the cutest of all.
She sat on Dan’s arm and nibbled on her food. She held it in her hands like a human eating a sandwich.

Rosemary the rat was on my shoulder and her little claws scritch-scratched.
When I held her I felt a bit fizzy fuzzy.
She was heavier than I thought.
She felt tickly.
She moved quickly.
Her nose was twitchy.
She was as funny as a clown and as sweet as a baby cupcake.
Rosemary the rat is Dan’s pet.
But I wish she was mine.

1/2K's Car Race

We had a fun time making cars with Anatole from Craftpower because we're learning about toys. We used hammers, saws, work benches, nails and wood. We tracedcut out our car shapes and then we cut out our drivers. There were lots of different drivers, we got to choose which one we used. When we were done we tested our cars outside and then we got to decorate them. What a day!

It was really fun using the saw to cut into the wood. Mine was noisy. Leila

I liked working next to Allister at my bench. Romy

I enjoyed sawing out the characters for the car, I chose a fish and gave it green and blue eyes. Sean

I liked sawing the car out. I chose a tricky design but I did it! I chose a koala driver. Dean

We used a saw and we had to hammer in some nails. My favourite bit was sawing. Mitch

I was brave when I was cutting because I was a bit scared that I would mess it up. Aimee

When I got stuck, someone helped me and then I got it out. It was very hard to put the nail in too. Jordy

I like making cars, even though my hands started hurting. Selvi

I like making a cute koala car with Anatole. Alisha

I enjoyed making a car. It was pretty hard but I did not give up. Aidan

I was a bit scared when we started cutting but it ended up a bit easier than I thought it was going to be. Amelia

I wish we could make other things and I think it was a really good thing to learn. Lola

My car worked out but it sort of broke a little bit but we fixed it. Dan

We made cars with wood and I liked the noise when the saw went "crk crk crk" through the wood. Goldie

My car broke but I'm going to take it home to fix. My character is a ninja dog! Evie

Sawing the wood was sort of hard but I got the hang of it in the end. Audrey

I enjoyed making the cars out of wood and I wish I could do it again with him. Maybe I will be able to do it again when I'm a grade two. Allister

Something Strange in the Night

Everyone was snuggled tight and warm at home in their own beds when something mysterious happened in the classrooms of Bell Primary School. It was woolly magic and its name was Wally the Winter Woolly fairy!! When we came back to school this morning everything was covered in.... scarves, coats and jumpers!

Wally the Winter Woolly Fairy had visited our classroom and given warm jumpers and scarves to the containers and pots around our room. Our pencil cups looked as cosy as campers next to a roaring campfire. We got a note from the winter woolly fairy. It was a long, long note... we've put a photo up for you. We have lots of questions for Wally. We hope he's reading our blog!

Do you have lots of money to buy the wool for the clothes you knit? Where did you learn to knit so well? Lewis

Do you have a warm bed with a colourful quilt on it? Dean

Do you wear a beanie and a jacket to keep you warm in winter? Alisha

How did you sneak into the school? Jordie

Would I make a good winter woolly fairy? I can't knit but I can sew. Evie

Do you have an email address? Sean

Do you have a pet? Dan

Do you always come to our school at the start of winter? Lola

Is your favourite colour white and blue like a cold place? Aimee

Do you live in the snow? Leila

Did you use a map to get here? Or a GPS? Mitchell

I'm learning how to knit. Maybe I could come and help you. Audrey

Do you eat special food? We thought you might like hot chocolate. Do you have shops where you come from? Charlotte

Do you have a winter friend? Selvi

Do you like pandas? Romy

Do you have a wand that does magic? Allister

Do you have a sister? Lizzy

What colour is your hair? Goldie

Do you have a dog? I have one. Aidan

Do you have a car? How do you get around? Clarrie

Why don't you take our fairy pencils with you next time you visit. They'd be the perfect size for you. Lauren

Thank you for the awesome surprise, Wally!
We wish you a warm woolly winter!
We hope you're reading!
