Salad Days

One wet and windy Friday, 1/2B made super salads.

We zoomed to the garden beds and dodged the giant monster puddle.

We plucked some lettuce leaves, purple ones, green ones, squiggly on the edges, straight edged ones, some covered in aphids.

(we didn’t pick the ones covered with aphids and we avoided the snails).

We rushed back to class to get away from the chilly wind.

Back at the ranch, we washed the leaves to get the bugs and dirt out, swish, swash, swash swish, sssshhhhh.
We shook them dry and put them into our bowls.

We added herbs - parsley (which we all know) and salad burnet (which we didn’t know).
Some of us added salty, soft fetta.

Our dressing was olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and salt.
It made layers in the jar so we shook shook shook til it mixed like magic.

We added the dressing to the salad and ate it up.
We could have eaten it all day!

It was the best salad we've ever eaten.... delicious, divine, fabulous, fantastico, yummo, scrummo, super duper.

It was scrumdidliliumptious!
