Our Special Yabby
Hello, we're sad to say we have got bad news. Our pet yabby died on Wednesday, on ANZAC day. He died because before he came to our class, he had a fight with another yabby. He had so many legs missing and other injuries he couldn't grow them all back.
We made a grave for Yabstar the orchard and we buried him. We stood in a line in front of his grave and we put a handful of mulch and we each said something nice about Yabstar. Some of us said our words out loud and some of us spoke in our heads.
This recess a whole bunch of people visited Yabstar's grave and put flowers and stuff there for him. We have decorated his grave and it looks fantastic and quite glamorous!! We felt a bit sad about it for a little while but now we're just glad that we had Yabstar as a class pet.
Poor Yabstar, he died too soon. Evie
Yabstar wasn't just any yabby, he was a special yabby. Sarah and Selvi
Yabstar is a pet that we're always going to remember. Chloe
We liked him and he was a good pet. Goldie
We still want him here but we just had to let him go and that's ok. Leila
Yabstar was a great yabby. Mitchell
We put flowers around his grave at recess. Dan P
We hope we'll get another yabby. Lola

The Indians in our Cupboards!
This afternoon we made Indians in Cupboards (that's a compound word by the way, cup board). We've started reading The Indian in the Cupboard (by Lynn Reid Banks) in class. All the 1/2 classes are reading it. Betty thought perhaps we could make our own cupboards. We used paper, pencils and.... our imaginations! We drew Indians and other things inside. They all look different but very cool:
My toy Yoda got out of the cupboard! Mitchell
My cupboard door is green! Romy
My Indian has a black belt and he's got long hair. Leila
My Indian has a bare chest and a sash. Lewis
My cupboard had droids and soldiers and.... an Indian with a campfire. Jordie
I did handles and a title on the cover. Aidan
I put a huge wind up cat on the bottom shelf and a girl iceskating on the top shelf and kittens near the Indian. Goldie
My door has a hook that you can put the key on. Charlotte
Mine has a TV, a DS, clothes and it has teddies. Amelia
I had a really light purple door. Audrey

Fruit Tingle Graphs
This term we did Activity Maths every Thursday. We had a lovely time visiting all the different activities that each teacher was running. There were five different groups and we saw a different teacher each week. In Lauren's class we looked at graphing and data with.....fruit tingles!
Why are there always less of your favourite colour in a packet of fruit tingles? Is it a secret plan by the lolly people to make you buy more? Or does every packet actually have the same amount of each colour? Do they even make the same amount of each colour at the factory? Perhaps all the colours mixed up and random so you just get what you get. We decided to become maths detectives and solve the mystery once and for all by gathering some data.
We opened lots of packets of fruit tingles and stacked up each of the colours to make a 3D graph. We drew a picture of it in our groups and then we combined our data (information stored in numbers) to make a class graph (our data presented as a sort of a picture).
Here is what we discovered from the data:
* There were more of some colours than others in a packet (eg. some packets had more pink, some had more green).
* The colours in each packet weren't arranged in an obvious pattern, this suggests they're put into packets at random.
* Each packet was different.
* As we combined the data over the weeks, the numbers of each colour went up and down.
* The more packets we opened and recorded, the more even the numbers of each colour became.
* If Lauren opens enough packets of fruit tingles, she will get lots of pink ones in the end!
*Fruit tingles taste fabulous!!

Easter Madness!
What a marvellous week we had before the holidays... it was a week brimming with awesome Easter activities. We did Easter science, Easter writing, Easter maths and of course, a bit of Easter craft. We even got an email from the Easter Bilby!
I liked making the bilby baskets. Lydia
I liked doing the Easter bonnet parade and showing the hats to everyone. I went around and said "Happy Easter". Mariana
I liked making my bilby basket and naming the bilbies – Hermione, Firestone and Raven. Evie
I really liked colouring our bilby baskets, I used yellow, black, red and orange and green.I was a bit scared when we put the egg in the bottle 'cause I thought the fire alarm might go off and everyone would run out for nothing. Elliot
The easter bilby sent us an email! Clarrie
I liked doing science, we dyed some eggs with food dye. Nicholas and Milly
I liked when we did the parade and it was kind of a bit quite. The was good it helped us to look at the hats that everyone had made. Leila
Making the easter bonnet and drawing on it was awesome. Damon
I liked colouring in the bilby baskets and making them. Lizzy
Our egg in a bottle created a vacuum. Alisha
I enjoyed writing this blog. Audrey
When we did the vacuum egg it was sort of like an oven, it looked like the smoke was cooking the egg. Goldie
