One windy Wednesday, the Grade 1/2s went on an excursion to Ceres. We learnt about all sorts of different ways to look after our planet and we had heaps of fun doing it. The 1/2s were broken up into four different groups... but they weren't our usual classes. We worked in groups called plastic, paper, glass and aluminium. The grades were all mixed up and we got to work and play with people from different classes. Some of us made new friends. We ALL learnt alot.
There were four different activities at Ceres. Here is a bit of information about each of the activities and the things we enjoyed.
Paper Making
I made paper out of shredded paper. It was mushy! Isaac
We had to put shredded paper in tubs of water. We called it pulp. It felt like mashed potato. Soooo mushy! Romy

We all dug and dug. I found a baby worm. Felix
Keeping the Creek Clean
Did you know that if you put rubbish on the road the rubbish will go down the gutter, then the drain, then the Merri Creek. Teagan
We went on a windy walk along the Merri Creek. The lady told us the story of how the rubbish got to the creek. I felt sad as a snake. Nina
I learnt that the Merri Creek is dirty and the litter trap catches some of the rubbish. Clarrie
Rubbish Relay
We saw a cactus man and a cactus woman. They were made out of wood. Their eyes were made out of horse shoes. They were rusty and old. Isabel
My group's first activity was to put all the recycled things in the recycle bin and the rubbish in the rubbish bin. Sunita
I did a rubbish relay race. It was lots of fun! My team was very fast. Mia
