Lauren and The Learners: Why we love holidays!

This week,we made a mini book each (Gareth made a poster instead). They were all called "Why I love Holidays" because we were writing about our holidays. Lauren got the idea from a mini book about birds that she was given as a gift. She thought it would be fun to make our own little books about our interesting holidays. First we did a brainstorm on a giant piece of paper, all about our holidays. After a little time had passed we wrote our rough drafts of our mini books on lined paper. We edited our writing with a critical friend and jazzed it up!

When our writing was the best we could make it, we folded a blankety-blank piece of paper in a special way (Lauren helped us to fold it into eighths) to make our little book. To keep our writing neat, we ruled guide-lines lightly with a grey-lead pencil. When the books were finished we read them to each other. They have beautiful, carefully-drawn illustrations and the writing is magnificent.
