Clarrie's mum Jodie brought in some sunflower heads to share with the class and she suggested perhaps we could sell them. As we're learning about money in maths at the moment it seemed like the perfect project. And in true 1/2B style, we've jumped into it, bursting at the seams with enthusiasm.
The first step was finding out how many seeds we have....
"On Tuesday, my class decided that we would have a sunflower shop. Clarrie brought in some sunflowers and we picked off the seeds. We had to put the seeds in groups of 10." Olivia
"Yesterday we had to count sunflower seeds by ten, like this 10, 20, 30, 40, 50,60. It to a long time. We did it because we wanted to do a sunflower shop!" Romola
"Yesterday we counted sunflower seeds. We put the seeds in groups of ten. The seeds were stripey." Lucinda
"Yesterday we counted seeds. I counted up to 305. I had black seeds." Gareth
"We are going to sell sunflower seeds. It feels like we are going to be rich! " Mia
"On Tuesday we put them in groups and we counted them by 10s. My group counted up to 420!" Sunita
