Yummy Scones!!

On Tuesday we made lemonade scones in the staffroom. We used what we had learned about fractions to halve the recipe. We had lots of grown up helpers and we worked in groups of 4-6. The ingredients were flour (1 and 1/2 cups), a pinch of salt, 1/2 cup of lemonade and 1/2 cup of cream.

We sifted the flour then mixed the ingredients together in the bowl with a knife. We kneaded (silent k!) the dough, it was gooey and sticky so we added more flour. We kneaded 'til the dough was smooth and pliable (great new word!). Then we used an upturned glass to cut scones from the dough. We put them on trays and cooked them in a very hot oven (220 degrees). We read books or watched the oven while our scones cooked until they were golden brown. Then we cut them into halves and ate them with buttery cream (that Isaac whipped) and jam. They tasted delicious!!
